Betsy Abente is a Research Administrator in the Office of Training Grants. In this role, she serves as a centralized resource for Training Grant PI/PDs and administrators by providing both pre-and post-award support. In addition, she coordinates grant resources for Trainees and Scholars across the university including organizing a bi-annual NIH Mock Study Section and administrating the Washington University Grants Library. Prior to joining Washington University, Betsy worked for a global health non-profit in Washington DC and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan where she had the pleasure of having her eyelids freeze shut. She has more than 10 years of research, grant writing and proposal management experience. She has a Master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University and received her undergraduate degree in History and English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In her spare time, she enjoys chasing around her two toddlers and exploring the playgrounds of St. Louis.
