FORMER ASSOCIATE VICE CHANCELLOR FOR FINANCE AND SPONSORED PROJECTS

Joe Gindhart is the former Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance and Sponsored Projects at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL). Starting out as a staff accountant, he was involved in post award financial research administration for over 25 years. He was responsible for both the pre-award and post-award functions related to more than $640 million sponsored research funding/expenditures. Prior to this position, he was Manager of Contracts and Grants at the University of Georgia and Director of Sponsored Project Finance at the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation. Joe started his professional career with KPMG Peat Marwick after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Boston College.

Joe was an active member of NCURA and presented on numerous occasions at both the National and FRA meetings. Within the NCURA Micrograph Series, he is a co-author of the “Effort Reporting: An Overview”. He also served as a faculty member for the Financial Research Administration and the Fundamentals in Sponsored Project Administration Workshops. Within the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP), he served as WUSTL’s Institutional Representative and was the Co-Chair – Financial Reporting/Audit/Costing Subcommittee and as a member of the Executive Committee during Phase V. He sat on the Council on Government Relations’ (COGR) Board of Directors and was a member of Costing Policies Committee.
